Measures to protect our Rivers
Palakkad: From today, measures are being implemented to control sand mining in Bharatha puzha under the leadership of Sub Collector Dinesh Arora IAS. Sand mining control measures at Ottappalam, Pattambi & Parali areas includes issuing pass to the miners, their vehicles, installing billboards where the mining is taking place and such other measures.
These control measures are very much welcome and hope that the authorities are successful in strictly implementing them. Bharatha puzha’s tributary rivers namely Chittur Puzha, Gayatri Puzha and Kalpathy Puzha are not included under this control area. This will lead to the influx of Sand mafia from the control area to these areas. Chittur Puzha, Gayatri Puzha and Kalpathy Puzha are already suffering from the excessive sand mining.
Replacing the old check dams made of sand bags with the new permanent check dams made of concrete helped the sand mining laborers to earn 1500 per day per man. Earlier they were earning Rs.1000 per day. If this is the earning of the lowest member of this sand mining industry, you can imagine what is the amount of money involved in this sand mafia. That is the only reason some government officials & political leaders are getting involved in this mafia, who are continuously looting invaluable sand from our river beds.

പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയില് ഭാരതപുഴയിലെ മണല് വാരല് നിയന്ത്രണ നടപടി നടപ്പിലാവുകയാണ്. സബ് കലക്ടര് ദിനേഷ് അറോറ ഐ.എ.എസ് – ന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില് നടപ്പിലാക്കുന്ന പദ്ധതി ഒരു പരിധി വരെ കാര്യക്ഷമമാകുമെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.
ഒറ്റപ്പാലം, പട്ടാമ്പി, പറളി ഭാഗങ്ങളിലാണ് പുതിയ നിയന്ത്രണം നടപ്പിലാകുന്നത്. മണല് വാരുന്നതിനുള്ള പാസ്സ്, എടുക്കുന്ന വാഹനത്തില് ആവശ്യമായ പ്രത്യേക രേഖകള്, ബോര്ഡുകള്; മണലെടുക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള മേഖല, ഇത് നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്ന സംവിധാനം എന്നിവയാണ് ഇന്നുമുതല് നടപ്പിലാകുന്നത്.
പക്ഷെ ഭാരതപുഴയുടെ മുഖ്യ കൈവഴികളായ കല്പ്പാത്തി പുഴ, ചിറ്റൂര് പുഴ, ഗായത്രിപുഴ എന്നിവയില് ഈ നിയന്ത്രണം ഇല്ലന്നുള്ളത് മണല് മാഫിയ മുതലെടുക്കുക തന്നെ ചെയ്യും. ഇവിടങ്ങളില് ഇപ്പോള് തന്നെ മണലെടുത്ത് പാറ വെളിയില് കാണുന്ന അവസ്ഥയിലായിട്ടുണ്ട്.
മണല് ചാക്കുകള് കൊണ്ടുള്ള താല്കാലിക തടയണകള് മാറ്റി സ്ഥിരം ചെക്ക് ഡാമുകള് സ്ഥാപിച്ചത് മണല് വാരല് തൊഴിലാളികള്ക്ക് വരുമാനം കൂട്ടാന് സഹായകരമായെന്ന് അവര് തന്നെ സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. ഒരാള്ക്ക് ഒരു ദിവസം ശരാശരി 1000 രൂപവരെ പ്രതിഫലം കിട്ടിയിരുന്നിടത്ത് വെള്ളത്തില് മുങ്ങിയെടുക്കുന്ന മണലിലൂടെ 1500 രൂപ വരെ കിട്ടുന്നുണ്ടെന്ന് അവര് പറയുന്നു. കുടുബസമേതം മണല് വാരുന്ന തൊഴിലാളികളുമുണ്ട്.
മണല് വാരല്, തൊഴിലാളികള്ക്ക് ഇത്രയേറെ ലാഭമുണ്ടാക്കുമ്പോള് അനുബന്ധകണ്ണികളിലുണ്ടാകുന്ന ലാഭം പതിനായിരങ്ങളാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ ഉദ്ദോഗസ്ഥവൃന്ദവും ഉള്പ്പെട്ട മണല് മാഫിയ രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതൃത്വത്തിന്റെ പിന്ബലത്തോടെ പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുകയും നമ്മളോരോര്ത്തര്ക്കും ഒരുപോലെ അവകാശപ്പെടുന്ന പൊതുസ്വത്തായ മണല് കൊള്ളയടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയുമാണ്. ഇതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ സ്വന്തം ആവശ്യത്തിനാണെങ്കില് പോലും ഈ മണല് മാഫിയ പൊതു ജനങ്ങളെ മണെലെടുക്കുവാന് അനുവദിക്കാറില്ല.
എങ്കിലും, മണല് വാരല് നിയന്ത്രണത്തിനുള്ള പ്രായോഗിക സമീപനം കൈകൊണ്ടതിന് പാലക്കാട് ന്യൂസ് , പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലാ അധികാരികള്ക്ക് ആശംസകള് അര്പ്പിക്കുന്നു.
