Tarur (SC) in its current form was created after the 2008 Delimitation. A.K. Balan (CPI(M)) won in 2011 and 2016 with comfortable margins. P.P. Sumod succeeded him in 2021 with a 24,531-vote win. A solid CPI(M) stronghold.
